Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority expects its updated artificial intelligence strategy to generate more than AED300 million in annual added value, the authority said on Sunday.
The strategy was launched by Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA. It covers 41 areas across the authority’s agencies, sectors and departments.

Over two and a half years, the RTA plans to move 50% of its operations and services to agentic AI, systems that can carry out tasks with little human input.
The authority has identified 40 AI products for the initial phase, 11 of which are complete, alongside four foundational projects, Khaleej Times reported.
The first two rollout waves cover 11 business areas, including vehicle licensing, traffic, roads, public transport, customer service, procurement and human resources.
The RTA is targeting a 3% to 5% cut in traffic congestion and a 20% to 30% reduction in complaint and case processing times.
It also aims to reduce accidents involving newly licensed drivers by 10% to 20% and to shorten procurement cycles by 10% to 15%.
Projects include an upgraded version of the Mahboub chatbot, which will let customers complete five vehicle licensing services through the RTA app, website and WhatsApp. A bus network planner will use about 20 AI agents to analyze performance and recommend changes to routes.
Al Tayer said the strategy marks a shift from AI applications that support operations to systems that can analyze data, predict outcomes, support decisions and deliver services end to end.
