Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to digital innovation at a major United Nations event, highlighting the role of technology in promoting sustainable growth and global progress.
To begin with, officials from the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) shared how the Kingdom’s AI and data advancements support the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, especially in healthcare, education, and clean energy.
Additionally, the authority participated in the 22nd UN High-Level Committee on South-South Cooperation, held in New York from May 27 to 30.
During the event, Saudi Arabia delivered a presentation titled Leveraging Science, Technology, and Innovation. The session outlined how AI and data efforts enhance sustainability and development in countries in the Global South.
Moreover, the Saudi delegation included key representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Planning. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Communications and IT, and the Saudi Fund for Development also joined.
Together, they demonstrated Saudi Arabia’s growing role in global technological collaboration and innovation-driven partnerships that promote inclusive development.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia’s presentation emphasized its digital platforms powered by big data and AI. These tools help governments make better decisions and support development in emerging economies.
According to Saudi officials, the authority works closely with other nations to share experiences in AI adoption and strategic data use. These collaborative efforts are helping build a more resilient and interconnected international community.
Earlier this month, the Arab League recognized Saudi Arabia for its digital advancements. Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit honored the authority during the Seamless Middle East event in Dubai.
He praised Saudi Arabia for leading regional digital transformation through innovative public sector efforts and impactful AI initiatives.
Overall, these AI and data efforts have enhanced government efficiency and contributed to the national shift toward a smart economy.
