Iran and Kuwait Resume Joint Trade Committee Talks

Iran and Kuwait resumed their Joint Trade Committee after more than ten years. Mohammad Ali Dehghan-Dehnavi, deputy minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, and head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, co-chaired the meeting. Marwa Al-Juaidan, deputy minister of Commerce and Trade of Kuwait, also co-chaired. Representatives from customs, ports, and commercial institutions of both countries attended.

The officials focused on expanding bilateral trade and resolving challenges faced by Iranian businesses in Kuwait. They also outlined steps to simplify commercial exchanges and improve business conditions.

The head of the Iran–Kuwait Joint Chamber of Commerce said the committee’s resumption marks a turning point in rebuilding economic relations. He added it could lead to a roadmap for deeper cooperation in the future.

The ministers reviewed residence and visa rules, foreign work permits, investment facilitation, and cooperation in fisheries, tourism, and agriculture in Kuwait. These measures will strengthen trade and support business ties.

The Iranian delegation included officials from the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iran Customs Administration, and other technical experts. They examined collaborative opportunities in detail.

The two deputy ministers are expected to sign the final draft of the joint trade cooperation agreement on Wednesday. The agreement will streamline trade, boost investment, and support long-term economic growth between Iran and Kuwait.

Officials emphasized that the agreement will enhance communication between trade authorities and improve customs procedures. They also plan to create a framework that helps businesses resolve disputes efficiently. The renewed committee aims to build a stronger, more predictable trade environment.

Officials from both countries highlighted the importance of monitoring progress and following up regularly. They plan to hold quarterly meetings to address new challenges and review ongoing initiatives. By coordinating their efforts, Iran and Kuwait aim to maximize trade potential and create sustainable economic growth in the region.
