Oman natural gas production continued to grow steadily by the end of September 2025, showing ongoing expansion in the country’s energy sector. Oman natural gas output reached 42.6173 billion cubic metres, marking a slight increase compared to the previous year. This development remains important for national economic planning and long-term industrial growth, especially as energy demand evolves.
According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information, associated gas production experienced notable growth. It rose by 10 percent, reaching 9.4511 billion cubic metres. Moreover, this increase reflected improved extraction efficiency and stronger performance in oil-linked gas fields. Consequently, it contributed to stable fuel supplies for domestic industries and utilities.
However, non-associated gas production, including imports, decreased by 1.4 percent to 33.1662 billion cubic metres. Despite the decline, officials continue to manage supply sources carefully to maintain system balance. Furthermore, the adjustment aligns with broader strategies to optimize resource usage and reduce dependency on external inputs.
Industrial gas consumption declined. It dropped by 3.5 percent to 20.8842 billion cubic metres. Many industrial projects implemented efficiency measures and technology upgrades, which reduced gas requirements. Additionally, some facilities adjusted production schedules to match global market conditions.
Meanwhile, power generation plants increased their gas usage by 1.4 percent, reaching 11.7738 billion cubic metres. Growing electricity demand, rising population levels, and expanding commercial activity contributed to this increase. As a result, energy planners continue assessing new capacity additions and grid enhancements.
Gas consumption in oil fields climbed by 10.9 percent. This rise included operational needs and field processing activities. Similarly, gas use in industrial zones increased by 11.8 percent, driven by manufacturing growth and mineral processing expansion.
Energy analysts note that these shifts highlight Oman’s adaptive approach to resource management. Furthermore, government policies prioritize efficient extraction, diversified usage, and sustainable development. Oman natural gas remains central to long-term economic goals and sectoral modernization.
Looking ahead, authorities aim to enhance infrastructure, encourage investment in gas-based industries, and expand renewable integration. Therefore, the natural gas sector is expected to remain a key pillar of national growth and industrial progress.
