Omani investment growth took center stage during the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ sixth annual meeting with ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions. The event, held at the Diplomatic Club in Muscat, emphasized Oman’s focus on enhancing trade, investment, and international cooperation.
During the meeting, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, praised the diplomatic missions for strengthening bilateral relations with Oman. Moreover, he welcomed the opening of new embassies, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine, as well as a new World Bank office in Muscat.
Al Busaidi highlighted the ambitious goals of Oman Vision 2040. Additionally, he emphasized foreign direct investment, joint ventures, international trade, technological development, and the green transition. He explained that these pillars will guide Oman to become a leading destination for living, working, investing, and tourism.
Furthermore, the minister discussed plans to implement a personal income tax in the future. He stated that this initiative aims to secure sustainable revenue sources beyond oil and gas. Moreover, it ensures a fair contribution from citizens, supporting social cohesion and improving quality of life.
Al Busaidi also highlighted Sultan Haitham’s ratification of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. He described it as a crucial step to align Oman with global human rights standards. Additionally, he stressed its importance for strengthening domestic development and governance.
On the regional front, the minister addressed developments in Palestine, particularly in Gaza. He condemned Israel’s repeated violations of international law and attacks on civilians. Furthermore, he called these actions the most serious threat to regional security and stability.
Oman expressed appreciation for countries recognizing Palestine diplomatically. These steps reinforce international support for Palestinian independence. Additionally, Al Busaidi praised the ceasefire agreement reached on October 9. He noted the role of the United States, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, and Palestinian representatives in achieving it.
However, he emphasized that ongoing Israeli violations, which resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties, challenge the credibility of the ceasefire. Moreover, he urged the international community to exert effective pressure to ensure respect for the agreement.
Finally, the minister stressed that protecting civilians and enabling a viable political solution remain top priorities. He reinforced Oman’s commitment to regional stability and international diplomacy.
Overall, Oman investment growth reflects a strategic combination of economic diversification, diplomatic engagement, and sustainable development. Consequently, the country is positioning itself as a competitive regional hub for business, tourism, and innovation under Vision 2040.
