Aviation links between Qatar and Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport are expanding significantly. Hamad International Airport signed a Sister Airport agreement with Shenzhen, enhancing passenger and cargo connectivity. The partnership focuses on coordinated route planning, market insights, and technology adoption. Both airports aim to provide smoother, more efficient air transport for travelers. This initiative also strengthens economic and cultural ties between the Middle East and China.
Hamad Al Khater, COO of Hamad International Airport, and Chen Fanhua, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Airport Group, led the signing at a summit. The framework establishes long-term collaboration in service innovation, route development, and passenger experience. By linking Doha and Shenzhen, both hubs plan to improve flight links and expand trade and tourism opportunities. This agreement reflects Qatar’s strategy to become a leading aviation hub in the region.
The aviation network already connects Doha to nine major Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. These cities link to over 120 global destinations through Qatar, enhancing trade and air transport flows. More than one million passengers from China have traveled via Doha this year. Airlines and airport authorities see this demand as a signal to expand flight links further.
Collaboration also focuses on technology adoption and service improvements. Both airports plan innovative solutions to increase convenience and efficiency for passengers. This approach strengthens economic value while supporting air transport growth. By leveraging their expertise, Doha and Shenzhen enhance their roles as strategic aviation hubs in Asia and the Middle East.
Qatar Airways plays a key role in supporting these aerodynamic links. The airline expanded its codeshare partnership with China Southern Airlines, connecting Doha to major Chinese cities. These new flight links include Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. These steps strengthen Qatar’s network, increase passenger traffic, and improve cargo flows.
The agreement follows Qatar’s Sister Airport MoU with Beijing Daxing International Airport. Together, these partnerships reinforce Qatar’s position as a global flying leader. By focusing on innovation, connectivity, and passenger experience, Qatar continues to grow its links with China and beyond.
The new agreement is expected to boost trade, tourism, and passenger flows. Qatar’s airports and airlines continue expanding their role in international aviation. By working with major Chinese hubs, Qatar strengthens air transport connections and its position as a global travel and trade center.
