Haramain High Speed Railway Carried 8.53 Million Passengers in 2025, Madinah Chamber Says, Citing New Investment Openings

The Haramain High Speed Railway carried about 8.53 million passengers in 2025, the Al Madinah Al Munawarah Chamber said, adding that rising traffic is opening investment opportunities in transport, hospitality, tourism, retail and logistics in the Madinah region.

The line ran an average of 96 trips a day in 2025, up 31.5% from 73 in 2024, according to the chamber’s 69th economic bulletin, carried by the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday.

Its fleet comprised 70 trains with 455 passenger carriages and a total seating capacity of 14,595, the bulletin said.

Madinah station handled about 6.04 million arriving and departing passengers in 2025, up 48% from 4.09 million in 2023. That is about 16,600 passengers a day and 35.4% of passenger movements across all stations on the line.

The chamber listed openings in shuttle services linking the station with the central district and hotels, door-to-door transport between the station, hotels and the airport, and Umrah packages that combine train tickets, accommodation and tours.

It also pointed to excursions to historical sites, more retail, food and beverage outlets at the station, mixed-use projects nearby, and parking and car rental services.

The bulletin put peak monthly demand for these services at about 739,000 passengers.
