Iraq Land Transport Company Sees Cargo Volume Rise by 36%

The Iraq land transport company reported a significant rise in cargo volume during the first half of the year. The General Company for Land Transport moved 415,000 tonnes of goods, marking a 36% increase compared to the previous year.

Director General Murtadha Kareem Al-Shahmani shared that the company completed 10,438 transport operations within this period. This achievement reflects its expanding role in supporting Iraq’s growing logistics and transport demands.

The Iraq land transport company handled various shipments for government ministries and agencies. These included agricultural fertilizers for the Ministry of Agriculture and electrical equipment for the Ministry of Electricity. Additionally, it transported kerosene for the Ministries of Water Resources and Health.

Other critical cargo included local wheat for the Ministry of Trade, perishable medical supplies, and laboratory items under an air freight transport contract. Materials for the Independent High Electoral Commission also featured among the transported goods.

The company’s operations extended beyond ministry needs. It played a key role in moving shipments from Iraq’s seaports to various destinations. Furthermore, it supported inter-governorate cargo movements as part of its ongoing contractual agreements.

Al-Shahmani highlighted the Iraq Land Transport Company’s commitment to high service standards. He emphasized reliability, speed, and precision as cornerstones of its logistics operations.

The company’s growing capacity showcases Iraq’s progress in strengthening its transport infrastructure. Analysts believe this success positions Iraq as a rising player in regional logistics and trade networks.
