The Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX) launched the Omani Women’s Investor Club on Sunday to increase women’s participation in Oman’s capital market, the exchange said in a statement carried by the Oman News Agency.
The club was launched at a bell-ringing ceremony that the exchange held to mark Omani Women’s Day, under the patronage of Ibtisam Ahmed Al Farooji, undersecretary for investment promotion at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.
It will combine financial education, professional networking and partnerships to help women assess investment opportunities and take a larger part in capital markets.
Haitham Salim Al Salmi, chief executive of MSX, said the club was part of the exchange’s efforts to build a more inclusive and diversified capital market.

He said greater participation by women would broaden the investor base and deepen the market.
Areej Mohsin Haider Darwish, who chairs the club, also chairs the automotive, construction equipment and renewable energy cluster at Mohsin Haider Darwish Group.
She said the club would build strategic partnerships, promote financial and investment literacy and support the growth of investments led by women.
Majda al Maamari, director of the Sustainable Investment Centre at MSX, told the Oman Observer that the club would hold three to four sessions a year.
The club’s committee includes Samra al Harthi, an MSX board member, Lamis al Lawati, chief financial officer of Shell Oman Marketing, and Zahra al Lawati, head of Al Sadara Premium Banking at National Bank of Oman.
Other members are Hamda al Shamsi, chief executive of Isar Financial and Management Consultancy, and Rania al Khasibi, chief executive of Al Amal Consultancy.
