Oman is strengthening its clean energy cooperation with the Netherlands through a strategic visit to the Port of Amsterdam. Several Omani ministers and senior officials participated in the visit. It was part of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s official state trip to the Netherlands.
During the visit, officials explored business opportunities. Specifically, they focused on green hydrogen, clean energy, and logistics. As a result, this effort highlights Oman’s growing role in global sustainability and energy transition.
Engineer Salim Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, shared key insights during the trip. Notably, he announced that Oman plans to export liquefied hydrogen to the Netherlands by 2030. This step marks a major milestone in Oman clean energy cooperation with the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, officials met with 11 major energy companies from Oman, the Netherlands, and Germany. These companies operate in the clean energy sector. Each one presented update and explained its role in the hydrogen plant project.
In addition, the visit explored investment in port logistics and transport. These areas are crucial for building the future hydrogen supply chain. Therefore, Omani companies aim to play an active role in logistics services for this international project.
Abdul Salam Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority, also addressed the delegation. He emphasized that Oman clean energy cooperation with the Netherlands is based on trust and shared goals. Consequently, this trust has already led to the signing of several key agreements between the two nations.
Furthermore, both sides discussed support for green technologies and sustainable transport. They aim to reduce carbon emissions and expand the use of renewable energy. Together, these shared goals reflect strong alignment in clean energy policy and vision.
To deepen understanding, technical briefings and site tours were also held. These allowed officials to witness the hydrogen terminal’s progress firsthand. In turn, they were able to identify potential challenges and propose solutions for long-term success.
Oman clean energy cooperation with the Netherlands reflects a deep and growing partnership. Going forward, both countries aim to build a reliable and green energy trade system. Ultimately, their joint actions will shape the clean energy landscape of tomorrow.
With each strategic move, Oman strengthens its leadership in renewable energy. It continues to expand its global reach and foster strong international alliances.
