Oman Unveils Four Major Awards with Royal Blessings

With the royal blessings of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Oman launched four Sultan Awards to promote excellence in culture, research, business, digital innovation, and regional development. These Sultan Awards aim to reward achievements, strengthen Oman’s global presence, and encourage innovation across multiple sectors.

Dr. Habib Mohammed Al Riyami, Chairman of Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science, explained that each award focuses on specific categories aligned with its theme. Moreover, he noted that Oman will continue regional and international awards to maintain its reputation in global forums.

During a press conference at the Ministry of Information theatre, Dr. Al Riyami added that the Diwan of Royal Court will supervise all Sultan Awards. This body will coordinate registration, announce winners, organize ceremonies, and form committees for shortlisting and arbitration. Therefore, the process remains transparent, consistent, and fair for all participants.

The Sultan Awards include the Culture and Social Award, valued at RO 625,500. It targets individuals, civil society organizations, and private institutions. The award recognizes volunteer work, youth excellence, tangible and intangible cultural heritage, cultural recognition, and educational excellence. Most categories are annual, while educational excellence is biennial.

Meanwhile, the Award for Research and Innovation, valued at RO 123,000, supports both individuals and institutions. It rewards top scientific research, research institutions, student innovations, patents, and startup projects. Consequently, this annual award promotes creativity and strengthens Oman’s research ecosystem.

The Sultan Award for Economy, Business, and Digital Excellence, valued at RO 445,000, highlights achievements in industrial excellence, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation. Industrial awards honor adoption of value-added practices, modern technologies, governance, environmental compliance, and customer service.

In addition, entrepreneurship awards recognize innovative projects and traditional handicrafts, while digital awards highlight technology services, digital transformation, and international partnerships. Most awards occur every three years.

Finally, the Sultan Award for Governorates Development, valued at RO 1,070,000, supports regional growth. It rewards top-performing governorates, institutions, and individuals with first, second, and third-place prizes. The awards are biennial and aim to encourage development across Oman’s regions.

Dr. Al Riyami emphasized that the Sultan Awards inspire participation, promote sustainable growth, and reward excellence across all sectors. Furthermore, he highlighted that clear criteria and royal support will encourage wide engagement.
