UAE Sets New Rules for Drone Air Navigation Services

The UAE has introduced new regulations to ensure safe and efficient drone operations within the country’s airspace. These rules apply to air navigation service providers handling unmanned aircraft and set strict certification standards.

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has established CAR Airspace Part Uspace, the first national regulation for drone navigation services. This rule outlines operational guidelines for companies managing air traffic for unmanned aircraft.

The new regulation focuses on:

• Certification and compliance for drone service providers

• Operational standards, contracts, and auditing procedures

• Training programs to ensure safety and quality

These measures aim to enhance airspace safety and support the growing drone industry in the UAE.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Interior relaxed some restrictions on personal drone use. However, this change does not apply to Dubai.

People who want to fly drones for leisure must follow these steps:

1. Register using the UAE Drones app

2. Complete training from a GCAA-accredited provider

These conditions ensure that recreational drone operators follow safety guidelines and comply with UAE airspace rules.

By introducing CAR Airspace Part Uspace, the UAE is leading the way in regulating drone air navigation services. With clear certification requirements, safety protocols, and training programs, the country is setting a new standard for safe and efficient drone operations.
