Abu Dhabi has introduced a temporary measure that freezes rent increases for residential, commercial, and industrial properties across the emirate.
The Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre announced the decision on Tuesday. It stated that all tenancy contract renewals will be processed with a zero percent rent increase until further notice.
Under the new measure, tenants renewing their contracts will continue paying the same rent. The authority said the decision aims to provide stability for residents and businesses.
In addition, landlords must offer new tenancy contracts for previously rented units at the same rental value as the previous contract. As a result, property owners cannot increase rents when signing new agreements for those units.
The Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre shared the announcement through its official social media channels. The authority emphasized that the measure applies to residential, commercial, and industrial properties across the emirate.
According to the centre, the temporary policy will remain in effect until further notice. Authorities have not announced an end date for the rent freeze.
The decision is expected to benefit thousands of tenants across Abu Dhabi. Residents will gain greater certainty over housing costs. Meanwhile, businesses may face less pressure from rising rental expenses.
Furthermore, the measure could support economic stability. It may limit sudden increases in operating costs for companies and industrial operators.
The Abu Dhabi property market has recorded strong activity in recent years. Population growth, economic diversification, and investment have supported demand.
However, the latest decision signals the government’s commitment to balancing market growth with affordability.
Real estate experts believe the measure could strengthen confidence in the market. Predictable rental costs may help residents and businesses plan more effectively.
Meanwhile, property owners and investors will continue monitoring announcements from the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre regarding the policy’s duration and any future changes.
The authority confirmed that the zero percent rent increase takes effect immediately. Therefore, all eligible contract renewals and qualifying new leases must follow the updated regulations.
The rent freeze highlights Abu Dhabi’s efforts to support residents, businesses, and investors. At the same time, it aims to maintain a stable and sustainable real estate sector.
