Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan’s Private Department Launches LNG Fund Targeting $1.2 Billion Initial Close

The Private Department of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan has launched a liquefied natural gas (LNG) fund targeting an initial close of $1.2 billion, the state news agency WAM reported on Monday.

The Pvt Dpt LNG Fund (CEIC) IC was launched with the Abu Dhabi family office’s affiliate KSH Investments. It is part of a strategic agreement with MidOcean Energy and its manager EIG to work together on capital formation, investment origination and future energy and infrastructure opportunities in the UAE and selected regional markets, WAM said.

Reem Partners Limited will act as fund manager and KSH Investments as strategic consultant. Reem Partners is incorporated in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) and regulated by the financial center’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority.

“MidOcean offers access to a vital part of the global energy landscape through a well-rounded LNG platform, and our strategic partnership with EIG lays the groundwork for future teamwork and investment opportunities throughout the region,” said Dr. Ahmed Mansour, chief executive officer for global investment and asset management at the Private Department.

Mansour said the fund would give regional investors a way to invest alongside institutional partners in global infrastructure and energy assets. The Private Department said the launch is part of a plan to bring its investment vehicles to ADGM.

In July, Reuters reported that the Private Department had agreed to invest about $1.13 billion in MidOcean Energy. MidOcean, an LNG company formed and managed by U.S.-based EIG, said on October 2 that it had secured more than $4 billion of equity commitments in its 2026 capital raise and named the Private Department among its new investors.

MidOcean holds LNG interests in Canada, Australia, the United States and Latin America, including a stake in the second phase of the LNG Canada export project in British Columbia.
