Kuwait’s HEISCO Wins KD1.92 Million Order to Replace FCC Regenerator at KNPC’s Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery

Heavy Engineering Industries and Shipbuilding Company (HEISCO) has received a purchase order worth KD1.92 million ($6.2 million) for work on a Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) refinery project, according to a disclosure published on Boursa Kuwait on Thursday.

The order covers engineering, supply, installation and commissioning assistance to replace the regenerator in fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit No. 86 at KNPC’s Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery.

The exact value of the order is KD1,916,313.52. The work will run for 28 months, the company said.

HEISCO said the order was placed by the project’s main contractor, which it did not name. It said the financial impact would be reflected in its annual financial statements from 2026 to 2028, without giving a figure.

The refinery

A fluid catalytic cracking unit breaks heavy oil fractions into lighter products such as gasoline. The regenerator burns off coke that builds up on the catalyst so it can be reused.

Mina Al-Ahmadi, established in 1949, has a refining capacity of 346,000 barrels per day across 39 units after upgrades under KNPC’s Clean Fuels Project, according to the state refiner.
