Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Holding Community Management have started building two pedestrian bridges on Palm Jumeirah, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Thursday.
The first bridge, near Shoreline at the entrance to Palm Jumeirah, is due to be completed in June 2027. The second, at Golden Mile next to the retail frontages, is scheduled for October 2027.

Each bridge will span 40 meters and have lifts. Together they will carry up to 2,700 pedestrians an hour, according to the RTA.
About 16,000 residents are expected to benefit. The RTA said the project should cut vehicle waiting times at nearby intersections by up to 50%.
The authority did not disclose the cost of the bridges.
Part of a wider road deal
The bridges are part of a package of traffic projects under a wider agreement between the RTA and Dubai Holding covering 15 areas and developments linked to Dubai Holding, including Palm Jumeirah. The two sides signed a AED6 billion road improvement agreement in March 2025.
Hussain Al Banna, chief executive officer of the RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said the project reflected the partnership’s aim to integrate road projects with major developments.
Francis Gianni, chief executive officer of Dubai Holding Community Management, said the bridges would “enhance accessibility and connectivity across Palm Jumeirah, while supporting safer pedestrian movement and smoother traffic flow.”
