ADIB Approves Dh1.75 billion Rights Issue to Strengthen Capital and Support Future Expansion

ADIB rights issue gains shareholder approval as Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank moves ahead with its fundraising plans. Shareholders approved the proposal during a meeting held on Tuesday. The plan will increase the bank’s issued and paid-up share capital. The capital will rise from Dh3.632 billion to Dh3.738 billion after completion.

The bank plans to issue 106.383 million new shares under the offering. Each new share will carry an issue price of Dh16.45. The price includes a Dh1 nominal value for each share. The remaining Dh15.45 will go toward the share premium.

Eligible shareholders can subscribe for about one new share. They can do so for every 34.14 shares they already own. The offering price represents a discount of about 28.8 percent. The discount compares with the bank’s August 24 closing price.

The closing price came from trading on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. Meanwhile, the final subscription terms will determine the exact allocation process. The bank’s board approved the fundraising proposal earlier in August. Shareholders have now provided approval for the planned transaction.

ADIB expects the new capital to strengthen its financial position. Furthermore, the bank plans to use the funds to support future expansion. The fundraising comes as the lender continues to report strong financial performance. ADIB recorded total assets of Dh304 billion during the first half.

The bank has also maintained a strong return on equity. Its return reached 28 percent in 2024. The figure increased to 29 percent in 2025. It then stood at 28 percent during the first half of 2026.

ADIB also continues to focus on digital services and artificial intelligence. These areas form part of its broader strategy for future growth. Moreover, the bank sees further opportunities across its business operations. Management expects stronger capital resources to support those opportunities.

The additional funding could provide greater flexibility for expansion. At the same time, it can help preserve the bank’s capital strength. ADIB said the fundraising supports its longer-term strategic objectives. The bank also links its growth plans to Vision 2035.

The ADIB rights issue therefore represents an important step for the lender. It will increase available equity while supporting planned investments. Digital development and artificial intelligence remain key areas of focus. Investors will now watch the next stages of the offering.

The final subscription process will determine how shareholders participate. Meanwhile, successful completion could give ADIB additional resources for expansion. It could also strengthen the bank’s ability to finance future opportunities. Overall, the transaction highlights the scale of ADIB’s growth strategy.
