Investment in completed food security projects in Oman exceeded RO680.8 million across 192 projects, 101% of the target in the approved plan, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources said on Thursday.
Eng. Nasser bin Ali al Marshoudi, Director-General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Batinah North Governorate, gave the figures in the ministry’s speech at an Agriculture Day ceremony at Sohar University, Oman Observer reported.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
The ministry offered 463 investment opportunities through platforms including Tharawat, Tatweer and Invest Oman, against a target of 400. That is an achievement rate of 116% through the end of September 2026.
The opportunities are spread across Oman’s governorates and cover the plant, livestock, fisheries and water sectors.
Sector output
Gross domestic product of the agriculture, livestock, fisheries and water resources sectors reached about RO623.5 million in the first half of 2026. That was up 3.3% from the same period last year.
The sectors contributed 3.2% of Oman’s total GDP in the period.
Food security investment projects worth about RO1.87 billion were carried out during Oman’s Tenth Five-Year Plan, which ran from 2021 to 2025.
Wheat production exceeded 10,000 tons last season. In the 2025-2026 agricultural season, the ministry approved the distribution of 18,119 date palm offshoots and 40,541 fruit seedlings for model farms growing crops including mango, lemon, fig and papaya.
