The Oman green hydrogen project has taken a major step forward. Hydrom, Opaz, and ACME Group signed key agreements in Duqm. These include a Project Development Agreement and a Usufruct Agreement. Together, they cover Phases 2 and 3 of ACME’s green hydrogen and ammonia initiative.
In addition, This move integrates one of Oman’s earliest hydrogen efforts into Hydrom’s national portfolio. It brings all commercial hydrogen projects under one structure. The integration signals strong coordination and clear direction in Oman’s green energy plans.
Furthermore, The two new phases will span 80 square kilometres. Each phase is expected to produce 71,000 tonnes of green hydrogen and 400,000 tonnes of green ammonia every year. This follows the start of construction for Phase 1, which targets 100,000 tonnes of ammonia annually. That phase is already backed by an offtake deal with YARA BIRKELANDAS.
Once completed, ACME’s total output will hit 0.9 million tonnes of green ammonia annually. This positions the Oman green hydrogen project as one of the largest in the world.
Moreover, Hydrom Managing Director Eng. Abdulaziz Al Shidhani stressed the importance of the move. He said this unified approach boosts investor trust and supports a scalable model. Moreover, it shows Oman’s readiness to meet global demand with reliable green hydrogen supply.
Meanwhile, the third land auction round is underway. This continues the rapid momentum of Oman’s green hydrogen development. Infrastructure, regulation, and talent strategies are all progressing on schedule.
Additionally, Oman green hydrogen project Duqm’s CEO Eng. Ahmed Ali Akaak noted that Duqm remains central to these efforts. He confirmed the zone’s plan to attract green industry between now and 2030. He also highlighted Oman’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050 under Vision 2040.
ACME Country Manager Gursharan Jassal also welcomed the deal. He described it as a “landmark” in Oman’s clean energy journey. He noted that ACME shares Oman’s vision for a sustainable and globally competitive hydrogen economy.
Furthermore, Hydrom now manages nine large-scale hydrogen projects in Al Wusta and Dhofar. Together, these projects represent over $50 billion in investment. They also aim to produce nearly 1.5 million tonnes of hydrogen per year by 2030.
To conclude, powered by 35 GW of renewables, the Oman green hydrogen project continues to grow. Oman is becoming a top choice for global hydrogen investment.
