UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani in Abu Dhabi for talks on strengthening bilateral cooperation and reviewing developments across the Middle East. President Barzani was accompanied by his son, Idris Nechirvan Barzani, alongside an accompanying delegation.
The two leaders reviewed avenues for deepening political dialogue and expanding economic partnerships between the UAE and the Kurdistan Region, within the wider framework of cooperation with the Republic of Iraq. Discussions focused on investment opportunities, infrastructure development, and joint projects aimed at supporting long-term stability and growth. Both sides agreed on the value of regular high-level consultations to translate shared interests into concrete outcomes.
Regional developments featured prominently in the talks. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and President Barzani addressed current security challenges in the Middle East and underscored the importance of coordination and dialogue in reducing tensions and supporting stability, reaffirming the partnership as a key pillar of regional cooperation.
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, alongside a number of senior officials.
The talks concluded with a shared commitment to sustained engagement, with both sides expressing optimism about expanding cooperation in trade, investment and coordination across key sectors in the period ahead.
