Dubai’s Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) opened on Tuesday with 3,000 exhibitors from 60 countries, the Dubai Media Office said.
The 28th edition, organized by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), runs from October 20 to 22 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It covers 85,000 square meters, features 13 international pavilions and has drawn 60 local and international sponsors, said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, inaugurated the exhibition.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park now has a production capacity of 4,660 megawatts, which is expected to exceed 8,000 megawatts by 2030, according to the statement.
DEWA’s stand includes a model of the park’s seventh phase. That phase will add 2,000 megawatts of photovoltaic capacity and a 1,400-megawatt battery storage system with six hours of storage, giving total storage capacity of 8,400 megawatt-hours. It will be built under the independent power producer model.
The Hassyan seawater reverse-osmosis desalination plant, DEWA’s first project under the independent water producer model, involves investments of AED3.377 billion. It will reach a production capacity of 180 million gallons of desalinated water a day this year, the statement said.
Executives at the opening included Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), and Hussain Sultan Lootah, Chief Executive Officer of ENOC Group.
The 12th World Green Economy Summit runs alongside the exhibition on October 21 and 22 at the same venue. It is organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DEWA and the World Green Economy Organization.
