Qatar Condemns Iran Strike on Ras Laffan as Major Escalation

Qatar condemns Iran attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City, describing it as a serious escalation in regional tensions. The strike caused fires and significant damage to key energy facilities.

The government said the attack violated Qatar’s sovereignty and threatened national security. Officials also warned that such actions could destabilize the wider region. In a statement, the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly denounced the incident. It described the strike as irresponsible and dangerous.

Moreover, Qatar stressed that it has maintained a neutral position since the conflict began. However, officials said Iran continues to target Qatar and neighboring countries. As a result, the government warned that continued escalation could draw more countries into the conflict. This situation, it added, poses risks to international peace and security.

Qatar also reiterated its call to avoid targeting civilian and energy infrastructure. Officials emphasized the need to protect vital resources across the region. In addition, the ministry stated that the attack violated UN Security Council Resolution 2817. It urged the United Nations to take action to stop such violations.

Furthermore, Qatar called on the international community to uphold stability. Authorities stressed the importance of collective efforts to prevent further escalation. At the same time, Qatar affirmed its right to defend itself. Officials said the country may take necessary measures under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Meanwhile, the attack has raised concerns about energy security. Ras Laffan Industrial City plays a critical role in global gas production and exports.

As tensions rise, analysts warn of potential disruptions to energy markets. Any further attacks on infrastructure could impact global supply chains. In response, Qatar continues to coordinate with international partners. The goal is to ensure stability and protect critical facilities.

Qatar condemns Iran attack and calls for immediate de-escalation. Officials stress that diplomacy remains essential to avoid a broader regional crisis.
