Adnoc LNG Strengthens Global Expansion Strategy Through New LNG Marketing and Trading Platform in Abu Dhabi

Adnoc LNG has become the focus of the company’s latest expansion strategy after it unveiled a new global liquefied natural gas marketing and trading platform. The initiative supports stronger international growth while helping the company manage a rapidly expanding LNG portfolio. Furthermore, the platform aims to strengthen the UAE’s position in global energy markets and increase commercial flexibility.

Adnoc announced that it has combined the LNG marketing operations of Adnoc Gas and its investment company, XRG, into a unified trading platform. The new operation will be based in Abu Dhabi Global Market. Company leaders believe the integrated structure will improve coordination across marketing, trading, and shipping activities.

The company expects the platform to manage a combined marketable LNG capacity of 47 million tonnes per annum by 2035. As a result, Adnoc aims to rank among the world’s leading LNG suppliers over the coming decade. The expansion also reflects growing international demand for cleaner energy sources and long-term gas supply agreements.

Moreover, the unified platform will oversee an increasingly diverse LNG portfolio. This includes production from the Ruwais LNG project alongside XRG’s expanding international gas and infrastructure investments. Company executives expect the combined structure to improve operational efficiency while providing greater shipping flexibility for customers worldwide.

Long-term LNG marketing responsibilities will transfer to the new platform. However, Adnoc Trading will continue handling trading transactions as the official counterparty. Existing customer relationships and commercial arrangements will remain unchanged throughout the transition.

The company also highlighted the rapid growth of its trading business. During the past four years, Adnoc Trading has expanded its third-party LNG portfolio while building a stronger international presence. Today, the trading business operates from offices in Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Geneva, allowing it to support customers across several global markets.

Additionally, Adnoc has strengthened its shipping capabilities to support future LNG exports. Adnoc Logistics and Services now operates an LNG fleet of 20 vessels. Fourteen of these ships feature modern two-stroke carrier technology, improving transportation efficiency while supporting higher export volumes from the UAE.

The larger fleet gives the company greater control over deliveries and scheduling. Consequently, customers can benefit from increased supply reliability and greater shipping flexibility. These capabilities also support Adnoc’s broader goal of expanding its role across the international LNG value chain.

The company also announced a leadership appointment to support the platform’s expansion. Rashid Al Mazrouei will serve as Chief Marketing and Origination Officer. In this role, he will oversee marketing activities across the combined LNG equity portfolios of Adnoc Gas and XRG.

Company leadership believes the integrated platform creates a stronger commercial foundation for future growth. Executives said the initiative combines marketing expertise, trading experience, and shipping resources within a single operating hub in Abu Dhabi. They expect this approach to improve competitiveness while responding more effectively to changing market conditions.

Furthermore, company officials said the platform will deliver greater scale and flexibility across LNG operations. These improvements should help Adnoc respond quickly to customer requirements while supporting long-term energy security for international buyers.

Adnoc LNG also continues expanding its customer base through new supply agreements. In recent years, the company has signed several LNG supply deals with major buyers, including energy companies in India. These agreements support higher production levels while strengthening long-term commercial partnerships across key global markets.

Looking ahead, the company expects the new platform to play a central role in its international growth strategy. By combining marketing, logistics, and trading capabilities, Adnoc aims to strengthen its position in the competitive LNG sector. At the same time, the company plans to support rising global energy demand through reliable supplies, expanded infrastructure, and continued investment across its LNG business. Adnoc LNG remains a key part of that long-term vision.
