Asyad Drydock continues to expand its maritime operations in Oman. Asyad Drydock completed 130 projects during the first eight months of 2026. The company also added 56 international clients during the same period. As a result, its global client base reached about 900 commercial customers. These customers come from several international markets. The results also highlight Duqm’s growing role in global maritime services.
The completed work included 119 ship repair and maintenance projects. In addition, the company completed 11 industrial projects. The strong performance reflects rising demand for maritime services in Duqm. The area offers specialized facilities for international vessels and fleets. Moreover, its location connects several ports, industries and support services. This combination continues to strengthen Duqm’s position as a maritime business center.
Company chief executive Ahmed bin Ali Al Balushi said international demand continues to grow. Around 40 percent of new clients came from Middle Eastern and Far Eastern markets. Therefore, the company continues to expand its reach beyond Oman. This growth also shows stronger international interest in Duqm’s maritime facilities. Furthermore, new customers can support wider activity across the local maritime economy.
The company also achieved several operational milestones this year. For the first time, it carried out 10 double-berthing operations. This process allows two vessels to receive maintenance at the same time. As a result, the company improved berth utilization and increased its operational capacity. The company also worked on 27 vessels at the same time. That achievement demonstrated the workforce’s technical capabilities and operational efficiency.
Meanwhile, the floating dock has added further capacity to the facility. The new capability allowed the company to service 13 vessels by August. The company handled only two vessels during the same period last year. Therefore, the floating dock has significantly increased operational flexibility. It also allows the facility to manage more complex maintenance schedules.
Asyad Drydock is also developing two new shipbuilding projects. These projects will serve different uses and build on the company’s recent experience. The company previously completed and delivered three shipbuilding projects. Those projects served customers in Oman and other Gulf markets. Consequently, the new projects could further strengthen Oman’s shipbuilding capabilities.
The company’s expansion also supports local businesses across Oman. During the first eight months, it awarded OMR 6.5 million in contracts. Small and medium-sized enterprises received those contracts. The company also awarded OMR 12.5 million to local businesses. Together, those awards represented 81 percent of the total contract value.
This spending creates opportunities for Omani suppliers and service providers. It also strengthens local supply chains linked to maritime operations. In addition, the growth supports greater private sector participation in the industry. As activity increases, more local companies can benefit from new commercial opportunities. Therefore, the drydock’s expansion reaches beyond its own operations.
The wider development also strengthens Duqm’s maritime ecosystem. The area combines port services with ship repair and maintenance facilities. It also includes shipbuilding and other related industrial activities. This integrated structure can attract more maritime companies from international markets. Furthermore, it can support investment and employment across connected industries.
Asyad Drydock’s latest results therefore highlight the growing importance of Duqm. The company continues to expand its customer base and project portfolio. At the same time, it is increasing support for local companies. The combination of international clients and domestic suppliers can strengthen Oman’s maritime sector. Overall, Asyad Drydock is helping position Duqm as a competitive regional maritime hub.
