Etihad Rail Sells 120,000 Passenger Tickets in First Month of UAE National Network

Etihad Rail sold 120,000 passenger tickets in the first 30 days after the official launch of the UAE’s national passenger rail network, the operator said on Friday.

The figure covers September 30 to October 30, 2026.

The network links four stations: Abu Dhabi’s Mohamed bin Zayed City, Dubai Al Yalayis, Al Dhaid in Sharjah, and Fujairah.

“Our ambition is for passenger rail to become a natural part of everyday life, and a trusted choice that people return to time and again for comfortable, safe and reliable travel,” said Adhraa Almansoori, executive director of commercial and support at Etihad Rail Mobility.

She said the response in the first month reflected passengers’ confidence in the new mode of transport.

Earlier phase

The Abu Dhabi and Fujairah stations opened on June 30 for an introductory service. Dubai Al Yalayis and Al Dhaid joined on September 30, marking the official launch.

Etihad Rail said on August 3 that ticket sales for the introductory Abu Dhabi to Fujairah service had passed 70,000, The National reported.

At Dubai Al Yalayis, a pedestrian bridge connects the station to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station on the Red Line. In Abu Dhabi, shuttle buses run from Mohamed bin Zayed City Station to destinations including ADNOC Headquarters on the Corniche, ADNEC Centre, Reem Mall and Yas Island.

More stations

Stations at Madinat Zayed and Liwa in Al Dhafra are due to open on November 30, with Al Sila, Al Mirfa and Al Dhannah following on December 30, according to The National.

A Sharjah station near University City will be the last on the first phase, due to open on March 30, 2027.

Plans also include a rail link to Oman through Hafeet Rail, part of the wider GCC railway network expected by 2030.
