The UAE food sector entered a new phase with the launch of the Future Food Forum in Dubai. Moreover, policymakers, business leaders, and academics gathered to address food security and innovation across the Global South. Therefore, the event emphasized sustainable growth, regional trade, and global cooperation.
The UAE food sector also set a bold target to expand from $8.1 billion to $10.9 billion. However, the forum’s focus went beyond national ambitions and explored wider strategies. In addition, experts highlighted sustainable proteins, agri-tech, and technology as essential for progress. Furthermore, they stressed that collaboration between regions builds stronger and more resilient food systems.
Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements, or CEPAs, received major attention during the discussions. Consequently, these agreements open doors in food manufacturing, logistics, and exports. Moreover, they integrate small and medium enterprises into international supply chains. As a result, CEPAs allow countries to strengthen their positions in global food trade.
Meanwhile, speakers pointed to India-UAE cooperation as a model for the Global South. In particular, they underlined that India’s agricultural output combined with the UAE’s hub status creates strong synergies. Together, both nations aim to reach a $100 billion non-oil trade goal. Additionally, the UAE’s advances in AI and quantum technology merge well with India’s talent pool, accelerating innovation.
The UAE food sector also benefits from digital transformation. For example, panels showcased how artificial intelligence and quantum systems secure global supply chains. Moreover, these tools enhance efficiency and improve resilience against disruptions. Therefore, technology remains vital to ensuring food security worldwide.
Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri inaugurated the forum and highlighted sustainability as the key driver. In addition, he connected the forum to the National Policy for Economic Clusters. This framework, he explained, strengthens interconnected industries and adds billions to the national economy. Furthermore, he stressed that innovation must power every future step in the food industry.
Finally, the conference emphasized collective responsibility. Experts explained that nations cannot achieve food security in isolation. Instead, regional cooperation, shared investments, and knowledge exchange remain critical. Therefore, the UAE food sector can inspire other regions and demonstrate how joint action creates lasting results.
The three-day forum concluded with a strong message: “food security requires sustainability, innovation, and collaboration.” Consequently, the UAE food sector stands at the center of this transformation and leads ambitious global growth plans.
