AI Infrastructure Investment Expands as Mubadala Backs Nscale’s Global Growth

AI infrastructure investment is gaining attention as Abu Dhabi expands its presence in global technology markets. Mubadala unit Adic has invested in Nscale’s latest fundraising round. Nscale operates artificial intelligence data centers from its London base. The company raised $3.4 billion through convertible loan notes. The funding will support its expansion across international markets. Meanwhile, major technology and investment firms are participating in the financing. The deal highlights growing demand for computing capacity needed by advanced artificial intelligence systems.

Nscale will receive $2.4 billion when the transaction closes. Nvidia has also committed another $1 billion to the fundraising. The company expects the funding process to conclude around mid-November. Nscale structured the financing through convertible loan notes. These notes can later convert into ordinary shares. The conversion will occur when Nscale completes its planned initial public offering. Nvidia’s notes will instead convert into non-voting shares.

Adic did not disclose the size of its investment in the fundraising. However, its participation adds another major Abu Dhabi investor to Nscale’s funding base. Adic operates as a wholly owned unit of Mubadala Investment Company. The investment therefore expands Mubadala’s exposure to artificial intelligence infrastructure. It also supports the wealth fund’s broader technology investment strategy. In recent years, Mubadala has increased its focus on emerging technologies. AI, cloud computing and data centers remain important areas within that strategy.

Nscale plans to use the new capital to accelerate its global expansion. The company develops infrastructure that supports demanding artificial intelligence workloads. Data centers provide the computing power required to train and operate advanced AI models. As AI adoption increases, companies require larger amounts of specialized computing capacity. Consequently, demand for data center infrastructure continues to attract substantial investment. Nscale has reported more than $103 billion in total contracted value.

The company’s latest financing also brings together investors from several major markets. Third Point leads the fundraising through its investment in the convertible notes. Nvidia has committed additional funding alongside the initial financing. Adic has also joined the group through its investment. Together, these commitments provide Nscale with significant financial resources for expansion. The company can therefore increase its ability to develop new data center capacity.

Mubadala’s involvement reflects Abu Dhabi’s growing interest in global technology infrastructure. The wealth fund has invested across several technology and infrastructure businesses. It has also identified artificial intelligence and robotics as important investment areas. Furthermore, Mubadala previously supported Crusoe, an American AI infrastructure company. That investment formed part of a $600 million funding round in 2024. The latest Nscale investment adds another international technology position to its portfolio.

At the same time, Abu Dhabi continues building connections across the global artificial intelligence industry. The UAE has joined international efforts focused on AI infrastructure and supply chains. These initiatives involve technology companies, investors and government-backed organizations. Mubadala and other Abu Dhabi entities have also developed relationships with major technology firms. Such partnerships can create opportunities across computing, software and advanced technology infrastructure.

The growing need for data centers is also changing investment priorities worldwide. Artificial intelligence companies require significant computing resources to develop new systems. Those resources depend on specialized facilities, powerful processors and reliable energy supplies. Therefore, data center operators have become increasingly important within the technology ecosystem. Investors are consequently providing large amounts of capital for infrastructure expansion.

AI infrastructure development could remain an important investment area as artificial intelligence adoption grows. Nscale’s latest funding provides resources for its planned international expansion. Meanwhile, Adic’s participation strengthens Abu Dhabi’s presence within the sector. The investment also adds to Mubadala’s growing technology portfolio. As a result, the deal connects Abu Dhabi capital with expanding global demand for AI computing capacity.
