Oman’s Voltamp Energy Plans RO20 Million Export Transformer Plant in Sohar Freezone

Voltamp Energy, a Muscat-listed maker of electrical transformers, plans to build a power transformer factory in Sohar Freezone with an estimated investment of RO20 million, the company said in a filing to the Muscat Stock Exchange.

The company has signed a land lease agreement in the free zone for the project, Oman Observer reported.

The plant will make power transformers mainly for international export markets, with a total production capacity of 5,000 megavolt-amperes.

The investment will be spread over five years. It will be financed by local banks and disbursed in phases linked to project milestones.

The first phase is scheduled for completion in 2027.

The project will be carried out by Voltamp International LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary in Sohar Free Zone that was set up after a board resolution on August 5, 2026.

Voltamp said the plant would serve as an export hub for the company.
