Bahrain Fintech Links Grow as First Swiss Delegation Arrives for Fintech Forward 2026

Bahrain fintech links are set to strengthen as Switzerland sends its first fintech delegation to the Kingdom. The delegation will visit Bahrain from October 6 to October 8. It will participate in Fintech Forward 2026 and meet key financial sector stakeholders. Moreover, the programme will explore partnerships between Swiss companies and Bahrain’s growing financial technology ecosystem.

The Bahrain Economic Development Board organized the visit with several Swiss institutions. These include the Swiss Embassy in the UAE and Bahrain and Switzerland Global Enterprise. The Swiss Business Hub Middle East also supports the programme. Together, the organizations aim to connect Swiss financial companies with opportunities across Bahrain.

Swiss Ambassador Arthur Mattli leads the delegation during its three-day visit. Christoph Buehler, Switzerland’s Consul General in Dubai, also joins the programme. Diplomatic adviser Alain Luck will participate alongside Switzerland Global Enterprise representative Suhail El Obeid. Additionally, eight Swiss financial services and fintech companies will join the delegation.

The visiting companies will attend Fintech Forward 2026 throughout the programme. They will also meet representatives from Bahrain’s financial and innovation institutions. These meetings include discussions with the Central Bank of Bahrain and the Labour Fund. Furthermore, delegates will visit Bahrain FinTech Bay and the BENEFIT Company.

At the Central Bank, Swiss representatives will meet licensing and strategy officials. Those discussions will help the companies understand Bahrain’s regulatory environment. They will also provide an opportunity to discuss potential market entry and cooperation. Consequently, the meetings could create new connections between Swiss businesses and Bahraini financial institutions.

The programme also includes a fintech showcase during Fintech Forward 2026. Swiss companies can present their expertise to investors and industry leaders. They can also meet innovators working across Bahrain’s technology sector. In addition, discussions will explore partnerships, business opportunities, and shared industry perspectives.

The delegation’s visit also reflects the wider relationship between Bahrain and Switzerland. Both countries have developed economic connections across finance, investment, technology, and innovation. Therefore, the latest programme builds on several years of growing commercial engagement. It also brings new private-sector participants into the bilateral relationship.

The current visit follows a Swiss engagement led by Bahrain’s Economic Development Board leadership. Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif visited Zurich and Geneva during June 2026. Her delegation met investors and industry representatives across Switzerland. As a result, the latest visit provides an opportunity to continue those discussions inside Bahrain.

Ambassador Mattli highlighted the existing relationship between Switzerland and Bahrain. He pointed to potential cooperation across financial services, technology, and innovation. Moreover, he said the delegation wants to engage businesses and policymakers during its visit. Fintech Forward 2026 will also provide insight into Bahrain’s financial ecosystem.

Bahrain fintech links could gain further momentum through direct business engagement. Swiss companies can assess regulatory conditions while meeting potential local partners. Meanwhile, Bahraini institutions can explore technologies and services from established Swiss businesses. Such exchanges can support new commercial relationships across both markets.

Fintech Forward 2026 will bring global financial and technology leaders together in Bahrain. The event will focus on the theme “Finance in the Age of Intelligent Infrastructure.” Discussions will examine how intelligent systems continue reshaping financial services. Therefore, the Swiss delegation’s participation fits closely with the event’s technology-focused agenda.

Several Bahraini organizations support the event alongside the Economic Development Board. The Central Bank, Labour Fund, Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, and Bahrain FinTech Bay support the programme. Their involvement brings regulatory, business, investment, and innovation perspectives together. Consequently, the event provides a broad platform for international financial technology discussions.

The Swiss visit also gives participating companies access to Bahrain’s local payments infrastructure. BENEFIT plays an important role in discussions surrounding the country’s payment ecosystem. Delegates can therefore examine practical opportunities beyond financial technology products. They can also assess how their solutions could connect with existing market infrastructure.

The programme will conclude with a cultural visit to Muharraq’s Pearling Path. This activity adds a cultural element to the delegation’s business-focused schedule. Meanwhile, the main programme will continue emphasizing investment and financial cooperation. Overall, the visit creates another channel for Bahrain and Switzerland to deepen economic engagement.

Bahrain fintech links now have an opportunity to develop through direct institutional and commercial discussions. The delegation brings financial companies together with regulators, investors, and technology leaders. Furthermore, Fintech Forward 2026 provides a central platform for these conversations. The resulting connections could support future partnerships across Bahrain’s expanding fintech sector.
