Egypt Launches Investment Zone for Qatari Diar’s $29.7 Billion Alam Al Roum Project

Egypt has launched an investment zone for Qatari Diar’s $29.7 billion Alam Al Roum development on the country’s northwestern Mediterranean coast.

The zone opens the project to residential, tourism, commercial, administrative and service activities.

Qatari Diar is the real estate company owned by the Qatar Investment Authority.

Mohamed Farid, Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, attended the launch alongside government officials and representatives of Qatari Diar, Daily News Egypt reported.

Egypt’s cabinet approved the investment zone in September. Construction of the project’s first phase began in August.

Farid said investment zones help attract local and foreign capital, simplify procedures, speed up project delivery and create jobs.

He called on Qatari Diar to explore additional investment opportunities in Egypt.

El-Menshawy said the government is committed to supporting the project and coordinating with Qatari Diar.

Farid said the private sector accounted for about 65% of total investment in Egypt in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025/2026, up from a previous range of 40% to 45%.

Foreign direct investment inflows reached about $18 billion by the end of fiscal year 2025/2026, he said.
