Kuwait Finance House and Bahrain (KFH-Bahrain) have signed a memorandum of understanding with Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba). The agreement aims to strengthen Supply Chain Finance and explore digital solutions that support businesses across Bahrain. Both companies want to improve financing access, strengthen liquidity, and enhance efficiency throughout supplier networks. Moreover, the partnership highlights the growing role of financial technology in supporting local businesses.
The companies signed the agreement during FinTech Forward 2026. KFH-Bahrain participated in the event as a Diamond Sponsor. The forum brings together financial institutions, technology companies, and industry leaders to discuss developments in financial services. It also creates opportunities for partnerships that encourage innovation and practical business solutions.
Through the agreement, KFH-Bahrain and Alba will explore specialised financing options for companies and small and medium-sized enterprises. These solutions could help suppliers manage cash flow and meet their operating expenses more effectively. In addition, digital capabilities may help improve access to financial services across the supply chain. Consequently, the partnership could support stronger relationships between Alba and its suppliers.
The initiative also reflects KFH-Bahrain’s efforts to expand its corporate banking services. The bank aims to use its financing expertise to address the needs of businesses across different sectors. Furthermore, improved working capital management could help suppliers handle payments and business commitments. This approach may prove especially valuable for smaller companies with limited access to funding.
Mohamed Assem, Deputy Group CEO for Corporate Banking at KFH-Bahrain, said the partnership would support Alba and its supplier network. He highlighted the bank’s plans to explore financing and working capital solutions. These services could improve access to funding for local suppliers, particularly SMEs. As a result, businesses may gain more flexibility to manage their operations and pursue growth opportunities.
Assem also linked the initiative to the bank’s environmental, social, and governance objectives. He said the collaboration could advance financial inclusion and support sustainable economic development. Additionally, the partnership aims to create long-term value for businesses and Bahrain’s wider economy. Stronger financing options could help smaller suppliers participate more effectively in industrial supply chains.
Alba CEO Ali Al Baqali described the agreement as a step toward a more efficient and resilient business ecosystem. He said the company would work with KFH-Bahrain to explore financial and digital solutions. These efforts aim to benefit Alba and its supplier network, particularly smaller businesses. Meanwhile, improved access to funding could help suppliers strengthen their operations and support future expansion.
Al Baqali also emphasised the importance of supplier stability to Alba’s wider business performance. He explained that sustainable suppliers play an important role in maintaining reliable supply chains. Therefore, better financing options and working capital management could help businesses grow alongside Alba. The collaboration could also strengthen long-term commercial relationships and create shared benefits.
Beyond the immediate agreement, the partnership reflects Bahrain’s continued interest in financial innovation and digitalisation. Industrial companies increasingly need reliable financing arrangements to manage complex supplier networks. At the same time, banks are exploring specialised services that respond to corporate customers’ changing needs. By advancing Supply Chain Finance, KFH-Bahrain and Alba aim to explore practical ways to support local enterprises, improve business resilience, and contribute to Bahrain’s economic development.
