PIF Helicopter Company Expands Fleet With New Aircraft Orders

Saudi Arabia’s THC fleet continues expanding as the company invests in new aircraft to strengthen its aviation services. The latest agreements support long-term growth plans while increasing operational capacity. Furthermore, the expansion aligns with the Kingdom’s broader tourism and transportation ambitions.

The Helicopter Company, known as THC, confirmed plans to acquire additional Bombardier business jets and Airbus helicopters. The company aims to diversify its operations while expanding services across multiple aviation sectors.

THC signed a letter of intent to purchase 12 Bombardier business jets. The agreement also includes options for up to 48 additional aircraft. If completed, the full order could significantly increase the company’s fixed-wing fleet.

The confirmed order includes five Global 5500 aircraft. It also covers five Challenger 3500 business jets. In addition, the agreement includes two Global 8000 aircraft designed for long-range travel.

The aircraft agreements were announced during the Farnborough International Airshow. The event brought together aviation manufacturers, airlines, and industry leaders from around the world.

Industry estimates value the confirmed Bombardier order at approximately $570 million based on published list prices. The optional aircraft could further increase the overall value of the agreement.

Company executives said the expansion reflects a broader strategy beyond helicopter operations. They explained that THC intends to strengthen its presence in fixed-wing aviation while maintaining leadership in helicopter services.

Alongside the jet purchase, THC also expanded its partnership with Airbus. The company placed a firm order for eight additional H145 helicopters.

Airbus expects deliveries between 2027 and 2028. These helicopters will support future operational growth across Saudi Arabia and surrounding markets.

The H145 aircraft will enhance several aviation services. These include emergency medical missions, aerial work, tourism operations, and private charter flights.

Company officials believe the additional helicopters will improve operational flexibility. They also expect the fleet expansion to support future regional opportunities.

THC fleet growth follows an earlier agreement signed with Airbus in 2024. That framework covered the potential purchase of up to 120 helicopters over the coming years.

The company continues investing in modern aircraft to meet growing market demand. At the same time, Saudi Arabia continues expanding its aviation infrastructure under national development plans.

Tourism remains one of the country’s highest priorities. Saudi Arabia aims to welcome 150 million visitors annually by 2030. Improved aviation services will play an important role in achieving that target.

THC has expanded rapidly since its establishment in 2019. The company now operates more than 60 aircraft across several business segments.

Its services include emergency medical transportation, aerial inspections, tourism flights, and executive charter operations. These activities continue supporting both public and private sector needs.

The company operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. The sovereign wealth fund continues investing heavily in transportation, tourism, and infrastructure projects.

THC fleet expansion highlights Saudi Arabia’s continued focus on strengthening its aviation industry. New aircraft will improve capacity while supporting future business growth. The investments also reinforce the country’s long-term economic diversification strategy and expanding tourism sector.
