Qatar visitors reached 2.338 million during the first eight months of 2026. The latest figures show continued strength in the country’s tourism sector. Arrivals came through Qatar’s air, land, and sea entry points. Meanwhile, August recorded another increase in monthly visitor numbers. The results highlight steady tourism activity throughout the year.
Qatar welcomed about 303,000 visitors during August alone. That figure represents a 6.3 percent increase from July’s total of 285,000 visitors. Therefore, August became another important month for Qatar’s tourism industry. The monthly increase also shows continued demand from regional and international travelers. Moreover, visitor numbers remained diverse across several major geographic markets.
Gulf Cooperation Council travelers represented the largest visitor group during the January-August period. They accounted for 41 percent of all arrivals, reaching approximately 958,000 visitors. This strong regional share reflects Qatar’s close connections with neighboring Gulf markets. In addition, convenient travel links support regular movement between Qatar and other Gulf countries. Regional visitors also provide an important foundation for the country’s tourism activity.
Asia and Oceania ranked second among Qatar’s major visitor markets. Travelers from these regions represented 20.9 percent of total arrivals. Their combined number reached approximately 489,000 visitors during the first eight months. Meanwhile, Europe followed closely with 486,000 visitors. European travelers represented 20.8 percent of Qatar’s total arrivals during the same period.
The Americas ranked fourth among the main visitor groups. Travelers from North and South American markets accounted for 7.2 percent of total arrivals. Their combined number reached approximately 169,000 visitors. Furthermore, other Arab countries contributed another significant share of overall tourism activity. These markets generated about 162,000 visitors during the January-August period. Their share reached 6.9 percent of the total.
Other African countries recorded the smallest share among the listed visitor markets. They contributed approximately 73,000 visitors during the first eight months. Their share represented about 3.1 percent of total arrivals. Nevertheless, the figures demonstrate Qatar’s broad international tourism reach. The country continues to attract visitors from multiple regions beyond its immediate neighborhood.
Overall, Qatar visitors showed a wide geographic distribution during the first eight months. Gulf travelers maintained a clear lead among all visitor groups. However, Asian, European, American, Arab, and African markets also contributed substantially. This diversity can help strengthen Qatar’s tourism sector over time. Additionally, rising monthly arrivals could support hotels, attractions, restaurants, and other tourism businesses.
The August increase also provides a positive signal for the remaining months. Tourism activity could gain further momentum as travel patterns change throughout the year. Meanwhile, Qatar continues to benefit from its international connectivity and regional position. As a result, Qatar visitors remain an important contributor to the country’s wider economic activity. The latest figures underline the continuing importance of tourism within Qatar’s growth plans.
